I returned and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all (Ecclesiastes 9:11, KJV).
Time is simply the point or period something happens, as defined by Merriam Webster. It is the answer to WHEN? Time shows the process and marks the beginning and end of the seasons. Time is apportioned to everything thing under the sun.
Earth is bound by time. For as long as Earth lasts, planting and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, day and night will never stop (Genesis 8:22, MSG)." Time is an invaluable resource given to Man.
Time changes things and experiences. It breaks monotonous living and makes things beautiful. God uses time to bring changes to man. It's the factor that makes a lot of things flexible. It differentiates things. It is evident and changes can be pointed at and felt. It gives the ups, downs, curves, and straight path.
Time compartmentalize things–it gives sections to things. In the fullness of time, rain stops and harmattan starts. Leisure ends and work starts. But as things change from time to time, what will happen to you in the next time or stage of your life?
The work and preparation done at a specific time, waiting for another stage is what makes chances meaningful. If life was monotonous, there would be no reason to prepare, work, or think, everything will be predictable and lifeless—no excitement whatsoever.
In dry seasons you prepare for seed time. In rainy seasons, work and preparation is done for harvest time. Chances are that, because you have worked and prepared at this time, your prediction will happen and you will have a bountiful harvest and enough savings to keep for the next seed time.
When opportunities meet preparation, it works like magic. What do you do with time? How do you prepare? There are a lot of chances; how many of them are you prepared for? The ones that plan and prepare are the ones to enjoy times and seasons more.
To them, nothing is a waste. They drain out everything they can get from a time and save some of it for future purposes. This, of course, is not limited to weather and agriculture. It is applicable to the climate of eras or generations.
More than any resource given, how do you use time? Can you see beyond today? How many chances can you see? How many are you working towards? Chances are always available at every time, but how prepared are you?
Shalom!
God bless you
