Showing Up

From my previous posts, we understand that we are on a journey and we need a lot of things as we go on in the way. This brought me to an important point that I believe is valuable in forming the basis of our defense for the Kingdom and the Father—Loyalty.

A dog is said to be the most loyal animal to Man. In the sense that it will always show up for its owner any day or time. We are not dogs, but the figure of speech is needed for the message of this post.
Being loyal is a state of having or demonstrating undivided and constant support for someone or something. It can also be a firm allegiance to a person or institution. It is a display of faithfulness to a person or cause.

Judging by the standards of this definition—God has been faithful. He's got our backs at awkward moments and saved us from troubles, time and time again. He trusts and believes in us so much that He could entrust us with His Spirit—we've not earned or deserved it. We know God is faithful to us!

But the question isn't about God this time. We know He is always there. The question is—how firm are we in our allegiance to the Father and the Kingdom? If we are to judge on a scale of one to ten, what would we rate ourselves when it comes to Loyalty to the things of the Kingdom and the Father's business?

Taking a good and closer look at our lives, and judging from where we are coming from to where we are, we can tell without a doubt that the Father has been consistently showing up for us. He has been defending and caring for us like a husband does His wife.

But can we say we've been standing as we ought to? Like a wife to showcase the awesomeness of her husband irrespective of the times and seasons. Loyalty here is the kind that's been built as a result of constant trust from the consistency of the other party in a relationship. And we know that God always fulfills the end of His bargain, but do we trust Him enough to be loyal at all times?

Are we quick to point out how God didn't supply breakfast, that we forget that He has always and forever will be our sustainer? Or is the absence of some material things now putting our faith in question, while we forget that He has us here for a specific purpose at this particular time and season?

Are we like Elijah, who was quick to question God after He has shown up for us with fire on the altar and defeated Baal because there was a Jezebel who threatened him? It's time we started questioning ourselves and our attitude towards God.

Even if we are children and we have access to a lot of things. We shouldn't be spoilt from the freedom that we feel entitled to have every and anything. We should maintain a posture of humility. At that point, we can count out blessings, see better days ahead in Thanksgiving, encourage others, and have more reasons to show up for the Father.

Remember the Hebrew guys (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego), Paul, James, Peter, John (the baptist and the beloved), Deborah, Esther, Mary, Joseph the Arimathea, Philip, and many more. They stood firm and showed up for God at dangerous times, even at the expense of their own lives. Loyal unto Death.

We as a church (bride), we should learn to always be loyal to the King. Even when we face life's imbalances, make mistakes, or feel downcasted and discouraged, let's maintain a posture that affirms His faithfulness. 

The way we will show up for a friend after messing up or when we are going through a challenging phase in life. Let's show up for the Lord. Defend His cause in the spheres we find ourselves like a wife to her husband. Show up for Him. Trust God enough to be loyal.

The King Comes

Who is coming? Why is He coming? What is He coming to do? The major reason anyone would stand for anything is because they don't just know, but understand the purpose and mission of that thing.  Sometimes, I find out that I am carried away by activities that don't really matter to the reason why I joined a group or something in the first place. So, what I do to get myself back on track is that: I slow down and ask myself how I got where I am and why I started or made the decision in the first place. And by the grace of God through the help of the Holy Spirit, It works - I find my way back. SAME GOD

   A song in Yoruba (Nigeria) says " the Lord is, as the time of old, but we don't worship God like old times " . This is very true. I always wonder why there was power in the early churches, but now, we hardly see the manifestations like the ones we read about the book of Acts of the Apostles?!    Some times ago I thought that Christianity was a joke passed down to generations. We have little people in the church performing miracles, what are the other members of the church doing?
