Stepping Out

Reading the stories of great heroes of faith almost makes us believe that some of these men were never faced with Fear. Many times we focus on their bravery, focus, excellence, and strength to carry on (which is a beautiful template to be inspired from).

But we must also understand that they were humans; they had flaws and so many things were against them just like we have them in this time and age. So, they also must have experienced fear while trying to follow the instructions of God, making decisions, or starting some other things. 

You and I are not alone in this. If they overcame, so will we. It is a matter of when. Fear, just like every other emotion we feel, at certain junctures in life, is inevitable. Being afraid or scared is not as important as the things we do with it and any other emotion.
Fear drains, and standing from that point in prayer and mindset is extremely dangerous because it's might end up with a speech just like Job saying "The worst of my fears has come true, what I've dreaded most has hap­pened". (Job 3:25; MSG).

This mindset and speech are counter-faith and could drain out hope from a soul. But there is a better way. It is approaching any situation with the mindset that God is with you on this and whatever or wherever He leads me I will go.
Just like any faith hero before us, if we have to do the things God instructs, it is a move we have to do afraid. Do it afraid! Stepping out could be scary, but if it is by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we have to do it with all the emotion we feel, which includes fear.

I could go on and on citing examples, but the core of today's message is to step out and do it afraid. With your hands, legs, voice, or entire body shaking. We have to do it, because in the obedience lies the blessings, victory, and sometimes, they determine what shape our lives will take from there.

Step out, brethren, and do it afraid!

    Do it afraid...
    There are times God doesn't part the sea, He tells you to walk right on it. The journey from the wilderness into Canaan is always met by the first instruction: be thou bold and courageous. Like Dr Myles Munroes said, Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the freedom to face it.
    You may have fear in your head, but push on with Faith in your heart!

Wrap Ups

Endings are better than beginnings. Sticking to it is better than standing out ( Ecclesiastes 7:8; MSG). The end justifies the means and starting could be great, but there is nothing as fulfilling and satisfying as the wrapping up of a thing with strength and grace. It is better not to start anything at all than to give up halfway. If we must start a thing, then we must follow through to the end. It builds discipline, consistency, and focus. When a person sets out for a journey, the thing expected on the way can only be assumed but not accurate. Which makes the destination and finishing well a necessity for greatness and forging further. God's or Abraham's?

   The moment the word "children" appears, what comes to mind most the time is the result or outcome of a process. Especially when the psalmist was describing children in Psalms 127:3-5. My eyes were open to seeing results as children. Definitely, children have fathers. Let not go into defining children ( you can always read my post on CHILDREN), But my concern is that sometimes we (Christians) are referred to as Abraham's offspring and at the same time, we are called the children of God. How are we children of God and also Abraham's? It is possible that we are the offspring of both God and Abraham (His friend). We are considered as Abraham's offspring when we believe (Galatians 3:6-8), because the first to exercise Faith in God was Abraham and we are called his children because we are doing exactly what he did which was counted to him as righteousness(John 8:39) - FAITH .
