Both ways.

Growing up, there were things that children have to be subjected to so they could behave appropriately at home and around other people. There was this concept that made the person in the position of power or authority to have an edge over some people and then legislate on their behalf.

At the home front, it's most likely to be the parents. They make sure their children are brought up in the way of the Lord, to be respectful. As good as that was, the concept wasn't capturing the totality of the Scripture.
As children, we did as we were instructed and any default could result in lashes (in whatever form). There was an understanding that parents could be wrong, but there was no gut to talk back because there has been a cloud that has been forming—respect, that you can't rise beyond.

 A child like that could grow up to believe that standing for what is right is wrong because of the single side of God's Word (s)he was exposed to. And the list goes on and on, depending on the sector we are looking at. 
 
I'm not saying governance is not good and it's not just addressing the parent-children relationship, but any relationship that involves accountability. The aim is to understand that the word of God is not single-faced. There is a balance in the kingdom and God's Word is the weighing scale. The word of God is double-edged and always sustaining balance.

The word of God says "What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through ev­ery­thing, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to lis­ten and obey. Noth­ing and no one is imper­vi­ous to God's Word. We can't get away from it—no mat­ter what"(Hebrews 4:12-13; MSG).
If the word is double-edged, why would anyone think you can address someone with it and not get cut yourself? Most of the people in places of authority want to continue on the path that proves them to be right all the time. But you are human too. 

For those that are not yet "leaders", at some point in our lives, we'll be leaders too (at the home front and many other spheres) we must know that God has no shadow of turning, which means he doesn't cast a shadow on anything, He is pure light all around. If you stand by making him the standard in a situation, then be ready to make adjustments yourself.

So when we want things to go our way and we are trying to use his word as a yardstick, remember that he is the Lord of all lords, controls all spheres, and the God of other people. He is just. When next you want to exercise authority, know that he's got the back of the other person just as much a He has yours. And if you want to use His word to rebel, know that He's the God of order and everything has a procedure.

So today, I'll leave you with Ephesians 5: 21-28 and Ephesians 6: 1-9. To be read with the understanding of the of God's word to speak both ways at the same time. Let all adjustments be made with the help of God.

The King Comes

Who is coming? Why is He coming? What is He coming to do? The major reason anyone would stand for anything is because they don't just know, but understand the purpose and mission of that thing.  Sometimes, I find out that I am carried away by activities that don't really matter to the reason why I joined a group or something in the first place. So, what I do to get myself back on track is that: I slow down and ask myself how I got where I am and why I started or made the decision in the first place. SAME GOD

   A song in Yoruba (Nigeria) says " the Lord is, as the time of old, but we don't worship God like old times " . This is very true. I always wonder why there was power in the early churches, but now, we hardly see the manifestations like the ones we read about the book of Acts of the Apostles?!    Some times ago I thought that Christianity was a joke passed down to generations. We have little people in the church performing miracles, what are the other members of the church doing?
