Waiting in God

Growing up in the Christian faith, the phrase "waiting on God" was and is still one of the popular words being constantly spoken of by people and preachers. Because of the constant use, it has become a cliché.

Everybody waits on God. Everybody trusts and believes He is, and everything we were told He can do, but how many of us are truly "waiting" on Him to fulfill the words that were spoken to us? Everybody knows God doesn't lie, but how many believe His truth enough?

Waiting is a continuous process. It never stops. There is no point in any man's who believes in the Lord that he should say to himself - I have waited for the Lord enough, I'll do it my way this time. It's an attitude of unbelief in the first place. And while we might say that is true, we have to check ourselves long and hard enough to see if we are also not guilty of the same case. There is always a reason to wait on God.

Time tests our hope, love, and faith in God. How long can you wait on God to do something for you? Is God a concept of Santa Claus to you? Or a Father that deserves your love? If you say you love Him, will you still do if he doesn't fulfill your desires or it's taking longer than you expected? His ways and thoughts are not ours.

If truly we love the Lord, it will compel us to sincerely wait. If you occupy your present with frivolities, it will be difficult to put your trust in the Lord for the future and expected end He promised. You have to wait, not considering other options. The idea of waiting is not like looking forward to dinner, while I stuff myself with junk. It is choosing to wait for the dinner hungry, irrespective of when the food will be ready.

Waiting on God is when you know there are other ways. In fact, those ways look faster to the promised land than the Lord's way and process. BUT, I will wait upon the Lord. Imagine the Israelites has gone through the way of the Philistines. We will have a different story entirely today about how they got to the promised land by themselves, but even though it was hard, rough, and tough. They followed through.

When you know there are other ways to get things done, have carefully considered options, and yet still believe that GOD weighs countless times over all the options put together. That is waiting - trusting, believing, and rejoicing in the Lord, even if present realities denies your hope.

God never fails and the expectations of the righteous will never be cut short. But will you? At the end of your waiting, you are not the same. You are stronger in faith, deeper in love and an example to reckon with.

Father Abraham dared to hope against hope - at the end of each hope when it fills like the end and God doesn't show up, he still hoped and believed that God is faithful. Right now, he is a father to many nations. Men of faith who waited are an example of excellence in their spheres. Now, it is your turn to wait, Can you?

If you can, can you join me in saying these words and mean them from your heart: I choose God, stand on His word, stay in His promises, flooded by His Love, and flourishing by His grace. I'll wait on Him. Even though it's hard, tough, and rough, I will wait.

Wrap Ups

Endings are better than beginnings. Sticking to it is better than standing out ( Ecclesiastes 7:8; MSG). The end justifies the means and starting could be great, but there is nothing as fulfilling and satisfying as the wrapping up of a thing with strength and grace. It is better not to start anything at all than to give up halfway. If we must start a thing, then we must follow through to the end. It builds discipline, consistency, and focus. When a person sets out for a journey, the thing expected on the way can only be assumed but not accurate. Which makes the destination and finishing well a necessity for greatness and forging further. God's or Abraham's?

   The moment the word "children" appears, what comes to mind most the time is the result or outcome of a process. Especially when the psalmist was describing children in Psalms 127:3-5. My eyes were open to seeing results as children. Definitely, children have fathers. Let not go into defining children ( you can always read my post on CHILDREN), But my concern is that sometimes we (Christians) are referred to as Abraham's offspring and at the same time, we are called the children of God. How are we children of God and also Abraham's? It is possible that we are the offspring of both God and Abraham (His friend).
