In the body of Christ, there are different characters(individual) and ministries( parts of the church). This makes meditation very important. Meditation to some people is a Sunday to Sunday duty while some take it as an everyday pill. Some just read for the fun of it, to fulfill the routine of quiet time without getting the treasures out of it or to get knowledge for reasons best known to them without understanding.
To meditate means to contemplate on a particular subject. It's most of the time on what has been seen or read. The Lord commanded Joshua never to let the book of the law depart from his mouth, but he should meditate therein day and night...(Joshua 1:8).
I wonder why the Lord would make this a commandment. Then I realize that it's for a prosperous way and good success in all we do. The scriptures weren't written for condemnation but was written through the help of the Holy spirit to reproof, correct, instruct, and to give sound doctrines (2 Timothy 3:16). We can't be moved by any doctrine when we have the accurate one already glued to our hearts.
When we read the scripture with the help of the Holy spirit, questions begin to develop in our minds and the answers transform us by the renewal of our minds ( Romans 12:2). Meditation helps us to understand the subject the more we are pondering on.
The word is powerful when we make time to ponder on it to get the life that is light out of it(John 1:4). Our Lord Jesus Christ in His earthly ministry spoke the written word of the scripture and the devil left Him( Matthew 4:1-11). Meditation helps us in resisting the devil and makes us submitted to God ( James 4:7).
Meditation also involves speaking which helps our confidence and increases faith. The word we meditate on comes back to us through the help of the Holy Spirit to lead, protect, and talk back to us( Proverbs 6:22-23) in our day to day activities.
We can't gain much from just reading, it only increases our knowledge, but for more understanding in the path of wisdom, we must study to show ourselves approved...( 2 Timothy 2:15). All we ever wanted are wrapped up in the world, only if we meditate on it. Shalom!
Endings are better than beginnings. Sticking to it is better than standing out ( Ecclesiastes 7:8; MSG). The end justifies the means and starting could be great, but there is nothing as fulfilling and satisfying as the wrapping up of a thing with strength and grace. It is better not to start anything at all than to give up halfway. If we must start a thing, then we must follow through to the end. It builds discipline, consistency, and focus. When a person sets out for a journey, the thing expected on the way can only be assumed but not accurate. Which makes the destination and finishing well a necessity for greatness and forging further. This year has been amazing and some many things were unexpected, but regardless of the emotions experienced, God is good! When we thought it was over and there was no way we will make it, He showed and made a way. The most important thing when we are wrapping up anything is Thanksgiving. It could have only been God. If only we c...
